Frequently Asked Questions
1. When will the lamb be ready?
Lamb will be ready at the beginning of December. As soon as we have a confirmed processing date, we will let you know!
2. How much meat will I get?
We are expecting the carcasses (meat and bone) to be around 50 pounds total. If you choose boneless cuts, the weight you receive will be less. You can take the bones for soup or leave them.
3. That is too much lamb for us, any other options?
You can order a half of a lamb instead of a whole. This will be around 25 pounds of meat and bone.
4. What do these lambs eat?
This lamb was on pasture all summer and fall and has been finished on a small amount of high quality, organic grains and a large amount of hay (dried grass grown sporay free in the summer). Lambs are still enjoying the outdoors even though the pasture grasses are dormant for the winter.
5. Do I need a deep freezer to order lamb?
Yes, if you are ordering a whole lamb, you will need a deep freezer. The freezer on your fridge is not cold enough for long term food storage. For 50 pounds, or a whole lamb, you will need about 2 cubic feet of freezer space.
6. I have never cooked lamb before, will I be able to?
Yes you will! Cooking lamb is super easy to do. Katie will be available to answer all your questions. You can set your oven timer in the morning, use a crock pot, or cook Sunday afternoon and set up easy meals for the week. Curries, stews, soups, BBQ, raost in the oven. So many great ways to enjoy lamb!
7. I have NO idea how to have my lamb cut or even what cuts are available. How do I do this?
Katie will meet with you on Zooom or over the phone, whichever you prefer. She will go over all the possible cuts and help you dicover what cuts of lamb you enjoy and get the perfect cuts for you. You will also decide on portion size in the packages.
